Princeton: “Communiversity” Living

Each spring the students of Princeton University and the Art Council of Princeton co-host the annual Communiversity celebration.  This event brings Princeton residents together with Princeton college students for a day of performances, games, food and much more.  Students, local artists, musicians and merchants all chip in to make sure the affair runs smoothly.  This day is a good representation of what it really means to live in Princeton.  Imagine a community rich in culture and history; a place where the arts are celebrated eagerly and often.  Picture a town where the sciences flourish and education is put on a pedestal.  A town where families, young singles, older generations and college students not only co-exist, but enhance each other’s lives on a daily basis: Welcome to Princeton, NJ.

There are many reasons why in 2005 Princeton placed 15th on Money Magazine’s list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the United States, but the unique atmosphere a Princeton address will provide you and your loved ones is definitely a top contender.  Princeton is often called a “college town” because of the presence of Princeton University in the community since 1756, but there is nothing typical about co-habitation of town residents and students.  When you stroll down the historic streets of Princeton you will not be met with old beer cans or rowdy frat boys.  You will see intellectuals gathered near coffee shop windows discussing their favorite novels.  You will experience groups of people outside a small art house movie theater ranting and raving over the latest release of a foreign film.  You will be taken in by the ambience of knowledge and prestige associated with one of America’s top Ivy League institutions.
